Olson sponsors two bills before Senate Judiciary committee Thursday

A couple of bills before the Senate Judiciary committee in Pierre today are primarily sponsored by District 8 Senator Russ Olson of Wentworth.  Olson is a primary sponsor of a Senate Bill that would allow for an arrest to be expunged from someone’s record if the criminal case against that person is dismissed.

Another primary sponsor of this bill is District 8 Representative Mitch Fargen of Flandreau, and District 8 Representative Patricia Stricherz of Winfred is one of the co-sponsors.  Olson said the bill represents a bi-partisan effort to get this law changed.

Olson said those trying to break into entry-level positions are facing the most problems with this law the way it is currently written.
Another of Olson’s bill being heard by the Senate Judiciary committee today would revise certain provisions relating to the retirement of justices and judges in the state.
