Bulldog winning streak continues

Hartford, SD -- Make it five in a row for the Madison boys’ basketball team. The Bulldogs improved their record to 6-1 last night with a hard-fought 44-39 game over West Central in Hartford.

The Bulldogs started out the game with a 10-4 first quarter lead, then built up a double-digit lead in the second. But the Trojans rallied back to cut the lead to 26-22 at halftime. Senior forward Logan Wray says although Madison led most of the game, that lead wasn’t safe.

Madison built up another sizeable lead, but timely shooting by Jeremy Johnson and Dalton Kuehl in the second half kept West Central within striking distance. Finally with just 3 seconds left in the game, Wray blocked a three-point attempt to seal the victory.

Wray finished the night with eight points while teammate Mason Sullivan led all scorers with 12 points. Bulldog head coach Mike Ricke says getting a close win like this is a good thing for this squad.

Mitch Brockhaus led the Trojans with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Madison returns home Thursday night for a matchup with Flandreau at the Middle School Gym.
