Brown student killed while riding bike in SD

A Missouri woman killed in South Dakota
this week while on a cross-country bike ride was a student at Brown
University.
A university spokeswoman confirmed Thursday that Paige Hicks was
a Brown student.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Hicks was struck and killed
Tuesday near Vetal, S.D. by a tractor-trailer hauling a combine.
Troopers say the 21-year-old Hicks of Chesterfield, Mo., was
stopped on a hill on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 18 when she was
struck.
Troopers say she was checking messages on her cell phone.
The driver of the truck, 45-year-old Scott Wenzel of Wessington
Springs, was not injured.
