Thursday July 15th, 2010
Brian Holt Reporting
This week the Dakota Athletic Conference lost two more teams to the NCAA and now
have a league of only five members. Dakota State Athletic Director Gene Wockenfuss explains
that NAIA rules state you must have at least six teams to qualify for an automatic bid to a
national tournament. He says at this point in time they are hoping to get an extension on the rule
so they can decide what to do.
As for this upcoming sports season, Wockenfuss says everything remains the same.
Minot State, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Black Hills State are the
three schools becoming NCAA Division-II members.
