Madison Central changes in-town bus route

The Madison Central School District is making some changes to its bus routes to start off the new school year next week.  Superintendent Vince Schaefer said that there will still be five bus routes, but one of those routes will be just an in-town bus route.  Starting on Tuesday, the new in-town bus route will stop at the former Washington Elementary at 7:27 in the morning, followed by stops at St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Division Avenue, Hope Studio, West Center Baptist Church, and then to St. Thomas School, the Elementary School, and the Middle and High Schools.  After school the routes will be run in the reverse order.
Schaefer said they hope that the new bussing set-up will reduce the time rural students ride the bus, and make the bussing of in-town students safer and more efficient.

Schaefer said the times posted for the in-town route will be adjusted as needed as the school year progresses.

As far as the rural routes, Schaefer said there will be four of those and the bus drivers are contacting the students to let them know the times they will be getting on the bus this fall.
The Madison Central school bus routes will soon be available on the school district’s website.
